Crystal Palace are edging closer to landing Angers SCO’s highly rated teenage forward Sidiki Cherif as Oliver Glasner looks to strengthen his attacking options.
The 19-year-old could soon be heading to the Premier League, with Sky Sports reporting that Palace are in active discussions with Angers over a transfer. Fabrice Hawkins has also indicated that the player has already given his approval to the move, clearing a major hurdle in negotiations.
Cherif has risen quickly through the ranks in France. After stepping up to Angers’ senior squad in the summer of 2023, he has continued to progress and has become an important part of the first team setup. His development over the past two seasons has marked him out as one of the club’s standout young talents.
This season, the forward has made 17 Ligue 1 appearances and scored four goals. Although he is most comfortable leading the line, he is also capable of operating out wide, adding to his appeal. His form and potential have attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.
Palace are now pushing hard to secure his signature. The South London club are aiming to complete a permanent deal and are understood to be confident that an agreement can be reached. Personal terms have already been settled, putting Palace in a strong position despite Cherif having more than two years left on his current contract.
