Rangers midfielder Joe Dowell has fallen out of favour at Ibrox and has not featured in the Scottish Premiership since August.
Hull City have been strongly linked with the 24-year-old, reportedly keen to add experience and creativity to their midfield. However, the Tigers may face competition for his signature.
Leicester City have reportedly entered the race to sign Dowell, who is understood to be interested in a return to English football, according to SportsBoom. Hull, currently operating under a transfer embargo, would likely need to secure him on loan or as a free agent, potentially giving Leicester an edge. Despite this, Hull sit higher in the Championship standings, seventh compared to Leicester’s 12th, which may appeal to the player. Dowell is no stranger to Yorkshire, having helped Sheffield United achieve promotion from the Championship in 2019.
Hull are actively reinforcing their squad. Midfield remains a focus, with interest also reported in Manchester United prospect Toby Collyer. The England youth international spent the first half of the season on loan at West Bromwich Albion and is once again being considered by Hull manager Sergej Jakirovic.
The Tigers are also exploring options at left-back. Troyes defender Ismaël Boura, who recently represented Comoros at the Africa Cup of Nations, has been linked with a move. Hull have been dealing with injuries in the position, with Ryan Giles sidelined. Matty Jacob has returned from his loan at Reading but was only on the bench as Hull defeated Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup. Club captain Lewie Coyle, usually a right-back, was deployed on the left-hand side for that match.
